About Me

I'm an American with an English accent that makes me...Madonna. My name is Sherry Davey and although I was born in the US (Jersey as a matter of fact - no hair cracks please) I was raised in England. Although my family went back and forth between the US and England, they always made sure I saw American dentists regularly. I'm a working comedian and the mother of a beautiful three-nager, Lily. Being a comedian was the best preparation for motherhood, as I've already learned to endure public humiliation so the private kind becomes mere fodder. (Let's face it, the more intense and personal the humiliation the funnier.) I travel on weekends to do shows and spend weeknights hoofing it into Manhattan to hone my craft. I live in Brooklyn with my husband and our daughter. Life is a constant juggling act between family, career and trying to find reliable childcare. Sometimes I'm actually able to strike a balance (rarely), most of the time I'm scrambling till the last minute...but who isn't?! Also, I rarely get the chance to sleep anymore. So if I'm not making any sense blame it on "mommy memory." And let me tell you city living is not necessarily conducive to sleep. The slogan says it all: "New York the city that never sleeps." We're just determined to be crabby and forgetful. And we're planning on having another! Are we crazy? Does any of this sound familiar?! Is this thing on?!

I'm a first generation American. My family, like most immigrant families, is very close-knit.....here it's called dysfunctional. Laugh along with me as I try to be the best mummy I can be -- emphasis on "try." But remember, even though I'm English, I'M NOT MARY POPPINS!
